사순절이 시작된지 열흘이 지났습니다. 이제 40일 사순절의 4분의 1이 지났는데 감사하게도 첫 사분기의 기도 열기가 뜨겁습니다.

많은 분들이 열심히 기도해 주셔서 일천시간 목표로 향한 기도가 차곡차곡 쌓여져 가고 있습니다. 어렵게 10분을 내서 기도해 주신 분부터 뜨거운 열정으로 2시간넘게 기도하시는 분들까지 다양하게 마음과 정성을 모아 기도해 주신 덕분에 4분기 목표인 250시간을 훌쩍 뛰어 넘은 261시간의 기도가 적립되었습니다. 할렐루야!

새벽기도회가 끝나자마자 일을 가야 하기에 새벽기도 시작 30분전에 나오셔서 기도하시는 분이 계십니다. 아예 작정하고 4시부터 나와 기도하시는 성도님도 계십니다. 우리 교회에 등록한지 얼마 안 되시는 새가족 여러분도 열심히 참여해 주셔서, 새가족 여러분이 적립해 주신 기도만 1,500분이 되네요. 지난 열흘 동안 평균 40여명의 교우들이 새벽제단을 채워주고 계시는데, 한 분 한 분께 너무 감사드리며, 그분들이 그리는 기도의 원이 넘치도록 채워지는 이 사순절이 되기를 또한 마음 기울여 기도하게 됩니다.

교회에 나오지 못하는 분들도 인터넷으로, 또 각자 있는 그 곳에서 열심히 함께 기도해 주시는 줄 알고 있습니다. 그 분들께도 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.

함께 읽어가는 “기도의 원 그리기” 책의 내용도 많은 도전이 되고 있습니다. 하나님의 능력을 작게 여기지 말고 더욱 뜨거운 열정과 큰 기대를 가지고 기도하자는 말씀이 새벽에 몽롱할 수 있는 우리의 영혼을 흔들어 깨어줍니다. 이 자리를 빌려 새벽 시간에 낭독을 위해서, 그리고 기도 순서를 맡아 주시는 여러분께 심심한 감사를 드립니다.

기도를 부탁해 오시는 교우들의 기도 제목을 보면서 더욱 기도해야겠다는 다짐을 하게 됩니다. 특히 가족의 구원과 믿음을 위한 기도 제목들이 마음에 와 닿습니다. 배우자와 부모님의 구원을 위한 기도제목, 자녀들이 다시금 믿음의 자리로 돌아오길 바라는 기도제목들을 붙잡고 하나님께서 이 사순절 기간동안 이 기도들에 응답해 주시기를 간절히 기도하게 됩니다. 오는 주간부터는 조금 더 구체적인 기도 제목들을 놓고 함께 기도하려고 하는데, 함께 기도하기를 원하는 기도 제목들이 있으면 기도센터에 마련된 베이지색 “25 사순절 기도 카드”에 기도제목을 적어 “사순절 기도함”에 넣어 주시면 함께 기도하도록 하겠습니다.

아울러 벌써 응답 받은 기도가 있다는 이야기를 듣게 되는데, 그렇게 기도 응답 받으신 것이 있으면 함께 나눠 주시면 감사하겠습니다. 하나님께 영광 돌리며, 또한 서로에게 격려가 될 수 있도록, 기도 응답 받으신 내용을 간단하게 파란색의 “25 사순절 기도 응답 카드”에 적어 역시 “사순절 기도함”에 넣어 주시면 감사하겠습니다.

어제 있었던 홈리스 선교에 견신례반 학생 6명을 포함해 30명이 참석했습니다. 하나님께서 우리 한미교회에 기도의 응답으로 모든 사역을 풍성하게 해 주심을 보게 됩니다. 우리의 기도를 통해 하나님께서 감춰 놓으셨던 큰 일을 (렘 33:3) 놀랍게 보여 주실 것 같은 예감에 마음 들뜬 감사를 드립니다. 할렐루야!

Ten days have passed since the beginning of Lent. A quarter of the 40-day Lenten journey is now behind us, and I am grateful that the first quarter has been marked by fervent prayer.

Thanks to the dedicated prayers of many, our prayers toward the 1,000-hour goal are steadily accumulating. From those who have carved 10 minutes out of their busy schedule to pray, to those passionately interceding for more than two hours, everyone has contributed with passion and devotion. As a result, we have already surpassed our first-quarter goal of 250 hours, reaching an incredible total of 261 hours of prayer. Hallelujah!

Some members come to church 30 minutes before dawn prayer meeting begins because they must head straight to work right after the service. Others have committed themselves to arriving as early as 4 a.m. to pray. Even new families who recently joined our church have actively participated, contributing a total of 1,500 minutes of prayer. Over the past ten days, an average of 40 members have been filling the early morning altar with their prayers. I am deeply grateful to each one of them, and I earnestly pray that this Lent will be a time when their prayers are answered in abundance.

I am also aware that those unable to come to church are praying fervently through online services and in their own places. To them, I extend my heartfelt gratitude.

The book we are reading together, Draw the Circle, continues to challenge and inspire us. The call to pray with greater passion and expectation, without underestimating God’s power, shakes our souls to awake every morning. I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to those who take turns reading the book and leading the prayer for the service.

As I read through the prayer requests submitted by our congregation, I am reminded once again of the importance of prayer. The requests for the salvation and faith of family members especially resonate with me. Prayers for the salvation of spouses and parents, as well as for children to return to faith, deeply touch my heart. During this Lenten season, I earnestly pray that God will answer these heartfelt prayers.

Starting this week, we will be praying together for more specific prayer topics. If you have personal prayer requests that you would like to share, please write them down on the BEIGE "25 Lenten Prayer Card" available at the prayer center and place them in the Lenten Prayer Box.

Additionally, we have already begun hearing testimonies of answered prayers. If you have received an answer to your prayers, I encourage you to share your testimony with us. To give glory to God and encourage one another, please write a brief summary of your answered prayer on the BLUE "25 Lenten Prayer Answer Card" and place it in the Lenten Prayer Box.

Yesterday, 30 people, including six students from our confirmation class, participated in the homeless outreach ministry. Through this, we see how God is abundantly blessing all our ministries in response to our prayers. I am filled with joyful anticipation, believing that God will reveal great things that He has in store to us through our prayers (Jeremiah 33:3). Hallelujah!
