이번 콜로라도 겨울은 많이 추운 것 같습니다. 작년 11월초에 “Anya”라고 명명한 혹한이 콜로라도를 강타한 후에 태평양 해수면 온도가 낮아지는 라니냐 현상등으로 인해 콜로라도 겨울이 예년보다 춥고 눈이 많이 오게 되었다고 합니다. 하지만 이제 춘삼월을 바라보면서 콜로라도의 따듯한 햇살이 비추는 봄날을 기대해 봅니다.

3월과 함께 곧 사순절을 맞이하게 됩니다. 금년에는 사순절이 늦게 시작됩니다. 대개 사순절은 2월에 시작하는데 금년에는 비교적 늦게 3월 5일에 시작하네요. 작년에는 사순절이 2월 14일에, 내년에는 2월 18일에 시작하게 되니 많이 늦은 편입니다.

이제 다가오는 봄과 함께 따듯한 은혜로 채워질 사순절을 기대하면서 금년도 사순절에 관한 안내를 드리고자 합니다. 금년은 기도라는 주제를 가지고 사순절 기간동안 은혜를 나누었으면 하는 생각에 다음의 프로그램들을 준비하고 있습니다.

1) 사순절 기간인 6주에 걸쳐서 기도에 관한 설교 시리즈를 준비중에 있습니다. 왜 기도를 해야 하는가? 라는 질문으로 시작해서 기도 방법, 응답 받는 기도, 응답 안되는 기도등 기도에 관한 6가지 주제를 가지고 전할 말씀을 통해서 기도에 과한 기본적이 틀을 만들어 갈 수 있기를 바랍니다.
2) 새벽 기도 시간에는 서클 메이커라는 책을 통해 유명해진 마크 배터슨 목사님의 “인생을 바꾸는 기도 전략 – 기도의 원그리기” 라는 책으로 기도에 관한 여러가지 다른 측면을 배워가며 함께 기도하는 시간을 가지려 합니다.
3) 또한 사순절 기간 동안 한미교회 성전을 일천시간의 기도로 채워 보자는 당찬 계획을 세워 보았습니다. 40일 기간 동안 정해진 40개의 기도 제목을 놓고 함께 기도할 때, 시간이 되는 대로 예배당에 나와 기도하면서, 그 기도한 시간을 기록하실 수 있도록 “기도 통장”을 마련해 놓으려고 합니다. 그 기도통장에 총 1,000시간의 기도가 적립되어, 쌓여진 기도를 통해서 역사하시는 하나님의 능력을 보게 될 기도 캠페인을 진행하려고 합니다.
4) 또한 사순절 마지막 기간인 고난 주간에는 함께 연속으로 금식하는 릴레이 금식 기도 캠페인을 가지려고 합니다. 한사람이 한끼씩 금식하는 금식 릴레이를 통해서 기도의 근육을 키우고, 응답하시는 하나님의 능력을 함께 경험할 수 있기를 바랍니다.

이번 사순절 기도 캠페인을 통해서 우리의 기도에 응답하시는, 그리고 기도를 통해서 우리의 믿음을 새롭게 다듬으시며, 견고하게 하시는 성령님의 역사를 경험하게 되기를 바랍니다.

이번 사순절 기도 캠페인을 위해서 먼저 여러분들의 기도 제목을 생각해 주시면 좋겠습니다. 여러분의 기도 제목을 나누고 함께 기도할 수 있는 기회도 사순절 기간 동안 있게 되겠는데, 함께 기도함 가운데 이뤄지는 놀라운 기도 응답을 경험하게 되리라 믿습니다. 

기도를 통한 간증이 넘쳐날 은혜의 때를 기대하며, 다음 주에 사순절 기도 캠페인에 대한 좀 더 자세한 안내를 드리도록 하겠습니다. 감사합니다!

This winter in Colorado seems to be particularly cold. Last November, a severe cold front named "Anya" struck the state, and due to phenomena like La Niña, which lowers Pacific Ocean surface temperatures, Colorado has experienced a colder and snowier winter than usual. However, as we look ahead to March, we anticipate the arrival of spring, warmed by the sunshine of Colorado.

With March comes the season of Lent. This year, Lent begins later than usual. It typically starts in February, but this year, it begins on March 5. Last year, Lent started on February 14, and next year, it will begin on February 18, making this year's start relatively late.

As we welcome the approaching spring, I hope for a Lent filled with the warmth of God’s grace. I would like to introduce our plans for this year’s Lenten season, which will focus on the theme of prayer. We have prepared the following programs to share in God’s grace together:

1. A Six-Week Sermon Series on Prayer: During the six weeks of Lent, we will have a sermon series on prayer. Starting with the question, Why should we pray?, we will explore topics such as methods of prayer, prayers that receive answers, and prayers that seem unanswered, etc. Through these six messages, I hope we can build a strong foundational understanding of prayer.
2. Morning Prayer with "Drawing Prayer Circles": During our early morning prayer meetings, we will explore different aspects of prayer through Mark Batterson’s book, Draw the Circles: The 40-Day Prayer Challenge. This will be a time of learning and growing in prayer together.
3. 1,000 Hours of Prayer for Our Church: We have set a bold goal of filling our church with 1,000 hours of prayer during Lent. Over the 40 days, we will focus on 40 specific prayer topics, and we encourage everyone to come to the sanctuary to pray as time allows. To keep track of our prayers, we will prepare "Prayer Savings Books", where you can record your prayer time. Through this prayer campaign, we hope to witness God’s mighty work as our collective prayers accumulate.
4. A Fasting Relay During Holy Week: In the final week of Lent, during Holy Week, we will hold a fasting relay campaign. Each participant will fast for one meal in succession, strengthening our spiritual discipline and experiencing the power of God's answers to prayer.

Through this Lenten Prayer Campaign, I hope we will encounter the Holy Spirit, who answers our prayers, refines our faith, and strengthens us in the process.

I encourage you to begin thinking about your personal prayer topics for this Lenten season. During this time, we will also have opportunities to share and pray for one another’s requests. I firmly believe that as we pray together, we will witness amazing answers to prayer.
