한해를 마무리하는 계절을 맞으면서 교인 총회를 위한 여러 모임이 있게 됩니다. 11월 첫째주일에는 재단 이사회가, 두번째 주일에는 목회위원회, 그리고 마지막 주일에는 재정 위원회를 겸한 임원회가 모여서 내년도 예산안을 심의하고 이 모든 위원회의 준비가 마쳐지면 12월 첫째주일에 교인총회가 있을 예정입니다. 신령직 위원회는 이미 3번의 모임을 통해서 신령직 후보 공천 작업을 마쳤고, 내년 임원을 공천하는 인선 위원회도 모임을 가졌습니다.

새로운 임원을 인선하는 일이 쉽지가 않습니다. 무거운 책임이라 다들 어려워하면서 선뜻 나서게 되지 않기에 여러 번 기도하며 되묻는 과정을 거치게 됩니다. 그런 시간을 거치면서 지금까지 힘든 직분을 잘 감당해 주신 여러 임원 여러분께 또한 감사한 마음을 품게 되네요.

지난 2년간 건강이 어려운 상황에서도 임원회를 잘 이끌어 주신 김원섭 집사님께 무엇보다도 큰 감사를 드립니다. 특별히 여러 의견으로 복잡해질 수 있는 회의를 묵직하게 인도해 주셔서 교회가 여러가지 큰 사업을 무난히 이끌어 갈 수 있었습니다.

재정부장이신 권선자 권사님과 재정부에 큰 감사를 드립니다. 김삼수 권사님, 홍미남 집사님께서 함께 재정부로 수고해 주셨는데, 매주 소중한 헌금을 계수하고, 교회의 재정을 알뜰하게 관리해 주셔서 금년에도 저희 교회가 많은 사역을 지혜롭게 감당할 수 있었습니다. 매주일 제일 늦게까지 남아서 수고해 주신 귀한 사역에 큰 감사를 드립니다.

임원회 서기로 수고해 주신 박혜자 집사님께도 특별한 감사를 드립니다. 회의 내용을 다 녹음해 들으시면서 빠진 것 없이 깔끔하게 회의록을 정리해 주셔서 논의된 내용들이 말로만 끝나는 것이 아니라 action으로 이어지는 실제적인 결정이 되는데 크게 도움이 되었습니다. 이 자리를 빌려 심심한 감사를 드립니다.

그외 목회위원장을 맡고 계신 김신아 권사님, 그리고 재단 이사장이신 Lyle Olson 집사님께도 감사의 인사를 빼 놓을 수 없네요. 두분께서는 각 위원장직을 맡은 첫해임에도 불구하고 노련하게 맡겨진 사항들을 잘 처리해 주셨습니다. 재단 이사회는 금년에 지하실 파이프 공사, 본당 사운드 시스템 업그레이드등 굵직한 사업을 잘 감당해 주셨고, 목회 위원회는 복잡하고 예민할 수 있는 사항들을 은혜롭게 이끌어 주셨습니다. 다시 한번 감사 드립니다!

또한 평신도 대표직을 맡아 주신 노금옥 권사님과 Tom Moore 권사님께 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 평신도 대표직은 담임 목회자와 함께 교회의 구석 구석을 살펴보아야 하는 일인데 두분께서 신실한 마음으로 이 일을 잘 감당해 주셨습니다. 두 분의 마음 담긴 섬김이 저희 교회 목회에 여러가지로 묵직한 후원이 되었습니다.

아울러 교회 사역의 팔다리가 되어 주신 여러 부서장님께 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 매주 신실하게 사역을 감당해 주신 예배부, 전도부, 선교부, 교육부, 그리고 친교부등 각 부장 여러분과 남녀 선교회 회장님의 땀 흘리며 애써 주심으로 인해 아름다운 열매들이 가득 했던 한해였음을 고백합니다. 여러분, 감사합니다! 수고 많으셨습니다! (그리고 내년에도 잘 부탁드립니다!)

As we approach the end of the year, we have several meetings coming up in preparation for our annual Church Conference. The Board of Trustees will meet on the first Sunday of November, followed by the SPRC on the second Sunday. On the last Sunday of November, the Church Council will meet, together with the Finance Committee, to review next year’s proposed budget. Once all these committees have completed their work, we plan to hold our annual Church Conference on the first Sunday of December. The Nominations Committee for Church Leadership has also met and its work is continuing.

Finding new leaders to serve in the church is never an easy task. These positions carry significant responsibilities, and understandably, people are often hesitant to step forward. It often takes several conversations and much prayer before someone steps up to serve. Going through this process has made me even more grateful for all our present church leaders.

First of all, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Deacon Wonseop Kim, who has been our Church Council chair over the past two years, in spite of facing his own health challenges. I especially appreciate the calm and steady way he has led our meetings, even when discussions became complicated. Thanks to his leadership, our church has been able to carry out several major projects smoothly and successfully.

I also want to thank Exhorter Sunja Kwon, our Finance Chair, and the entire Finance Committee, Exhorter Sam Su Thomsen and Deacon Minam Pitchford, who have faithfully counted our weekly offerings and carefully managed our church finances. Thanks to their dedicated work, of staying late on just about every Sunay, our church has been able to support many ministries wisely and effectively again this year.

A special word of thanks goes to Deacon Helen Park, who has served as our Church Council Secretary. She has carefully listened to recordings of every meeting and prepared thorough and well-organized minutes. Her diligent work has helped ensure that our discussions do not simply end as words but become real decisions that lead to action. I want to take this opportunity to thank her wonderful work.

I certainly cannot leave out Exhorter Sina Kim, our SPRC Chair, and Deacon Lyle Olson, our Board of Trustees Chair. Although this was their first year serving in these leadership positions, both have handled their responsibilities with remarkable wisdom and effectiveness. This year, the Board of Trustees successfully oversaw several major projects, including the basement plumbing repairs and the upgrade of our sanctuary sound system. The SPRC also handled several complicated and sensitive matters with much grace and wisdom. Thank you both once again!

I also want to express my deep appreciation to our Lay Leaders, Exhorter Kim Olson and Exhorter Tom Moore. Serving as a Lay Leader means working closely with the senior pastor and paying attention to the many different needs and concerns throughout the church. Both have carried out this responsibility with faithful and caring hearts. Their heartfelt service has been a tremendous source of strength and support for me and for the ministry of our church.

Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all other department chairs and leaders who have served as the hands and feet of our church. Our Worship, Evangelism, Missions, Education, and Fellowship chairs, along with the presidents of our Men’s and Women’s Mission Societies, have worked tirelessly and faithfully week after week. Because of their hard work and dedication, this has been another year filled with wonderful fruits of ministry. Thank you, everyone! You have worked so hard, and we are truly grateful for all you have done! (And we are also counting on you again next year!)
