은혜의 계절

오는 목요일부터 여름성경학교가 시작됩니다. 이번 여름성경학교는 “하나님의 성품 탐험” 이란 주제를 가지고 3일간에 걸쳐 “창조주이신 하나님” “사랑이신 하나님” 그리고 “영원하신 하나님”에 대해서 배우게 됩니다.

이번 여름성경학교를 위해서 이규림 간사님이 총 책임을 맡아 인도해 주시며, 왕희진 성도님이 Co-director로, 그리고 구룽 목사님, 김성태 목사님과 Ashleigh 중고등부 간사님외에 김연미, 이진희, 박계현 집사님, 송민호 성도님, 박미숙 권사님, 그리고 신선미, 이혜영 사모님등 많은 분들이 함께 준비해 주고 계시며, 그외 많은 중고등부 학생들이 또한 그룹 리더로 함께 하고 있습니다. 이렇게 많은 이들이 귀한 말씀의 잔치가 되기 위해서 준비하고 있으니, 많은 어린이들이 함께 할 수 있도록 주변에 많이 알려 주시면 감사하겠습니다.

코비드로 인해서 한동안 멈췄던 VBS를 작년에 다시 재개해서 금년에 다시 갖게 됨이 너무나 감사합니다. 아직 여건이 충분치 않아서 목요일부터 토요일까지 3일만 진행하고 있지만, 앞으로 전과 같이 일주일간 계속할 수 있는 여름성경학교가 되기를 꿈꿔 봅니다.

이제 본격적인 여름이 시작되었습니다. 5월에 눈이 한두 번 오는 바람에 주춤한 느낌이 있었지만 이제 6월이니 완연한 여름이라고 할 수 있겠죠? 여름성경학교를 필두로 교회도 바쁜 여름 행보를 시작합니다. 6월 마지막 주일은 (28일) 피크닉 선데이입니다. 싱그런 풀 내음 속에 작년과 같은 장소인 Black Forest Regional Park에서 천지를 지으신 하나님을 찬양하며 맛있는 음식과 함께 온 교인이 행복한 하루를 보낼 계획을 세우고 있습니다.

이어서 7월 두번째 토요일에는 (11일) 연례 선교 바자회가 있습니다. 금년은 특별히 저희 교회가 처음 가게 되는 호피 인디언 단기선교를 위한 바자회가 되겠습니다. 예년과 같이 여러분의 많은 후원을 부탁드립니다. 호피 인디언 단기 선교는 7월 20일부터 일주일간 아리조나주에 있는 호피 인디언 보호구역에서 진행됩니다. 현재 김성태 목사님과 Ashleigh 간사님, 그리고 6명의 중고등부/대학부 학생을 포함한 15명의 단기선교팀이 구성되어 열심히 준비 중입니다. 여러분들의 많은 기도와 후원을 부탁드립니다.

단기선교에 이어서 중고등부 여름 수양회가 7월 말에 있게 됩니다. 덴버지역에서 여러 교회가 함께 하는 연합 수양회에 이번에 우리 교회에서 17명의 학생들이 참여할 예정입니다. 지난 3년간 참여해 오고 있는데, 금년에 가장 많은 학생들이 참여하게 되어 이 또한 감사하고 있습니다. 중고등부는 또한 8월에 영어권 특별 찬양집회도 준비하고 있습니다.

한가지 아쉬운 것은 8월에 부흥회를 인도해 주시기로 했던 구복음 선교사님의 비자가 나오지 않아서 집회가 일단 취소된 것입니다. 대신 6월에는 탁요셉 선교사님이, 그리고 7월에는 서예레미야 선교사님이 방문하실 계획이 잡혀져 있기에 선교를 향한 우리의 마음을 새롭게 해 볼 수 있는 기회가 되기를 소망해 봅니다.

이번 5월에는 눈도 왔지만 비가 많이 와서 좋았던 것 같습니다. 다시금 푸르러 지는 잔디밭을 보면서 우리 믿음의 밭도 그렇게 푸르러 지는 은혜의 여름이 되길 기도합니다. 아멘!

A Season of Grace

Our Vacation Bible School begins this coming Thursday. This year's VBS will be held under the theme "Exploring the Character of God." Over the course of three days, our children will learn about God the Creator, God Who Is Love, and God the Eternal One.

For this year's VBS, our new Children's Ministry Director, Ms. Kyu Lee, is serving as the overall director, with Ms. Heejin Wang serving as co-director. In addition, Rev. Gurung, Rev. D. Kim, Youth Director Ms. Ashleigh Brandt and Deacon Yunmi Shin, Jinhee Lee, Reymond Park, and Mr. Michael Song, and Exhorter Misuk Hasberry, and Ms. Sunmi Shin, and Ms. Hyeyoung Lee have been working diligently to prepare for this special ministry. Also, many of our Youth Group students are serving as group leaders. With so many people investing their time and energy to make this a meaningful feast of God's Word, we would greatly appreciate it if you would help spread the word so that many children can participate.

We are especially thankful that after being suspended for several years due to COVID, VBS was restarted last year and is continuing again this year. Although we are currently able to offer only a three-day program from Thursday through Saturday, we dream of the day when we can once again hold a full week-long Vacation Bible School as we did in the past.

Now summer has officially begun. A couple of snowfalls in May made it feel as though a cold season was lingering a bit longer, but with June upon us, we can truly say that summer has arrived. Beginning with VBS, our church is also entering a busy and exciting summer season. On June 28, we will celebrate Picnic Sunday. At Black Forest Regional Park, the same location as last year, we will gather amid the beauty of God's creation to praise the Creator of heaven and earth, enjoy delicious food, and spend a joyful day together as a church family.

Then, on July 11, we will hold our annual Mission Bazaar. This year's bazaar will be especially meaningful because it will support our church's first-ever short-term mission trip to the Hopi Indian Reservation. As in previous years, we would greatly appreciate your generous support. The Hopi short-term mission trip will take place from July 20–25 in Arizona. A team of fifteen people has already been formed and is preparing diligently, including Rev. Daniel Kim, Director Ashleigh Brandt, and six Youth and College Group students. We ask for your continued prayers and support for this mission team.

Following the mission trip, our Youth Group will participate in a summer retreat at the end of July. This is a joint retreat involving several churches in the Denver area. Our church plans to send seventeen students this year—the largest number we have sent in the three years we have participated! The Youth Group is also preparing a special praise gathering in August.

One disappointment this summer is that the revival services originally planned for August with Missionary Gospel Gu have been canceled due to visa issues. However, Missionary Joseph Tak is scheduled to visit us in June, and Missionary Jeremiah Seo is also planning to visit in July. We pray that these visits will renew our hearts and passion for missions.

This past May brought not only snow but also abundant rain. As I look at the lawns becoming greener and vibrant once again, I pray that the fields of our faith may also flourish and grow more vibrant during this summer season of grace. Amen!
