오늘 새가족 환영회가 있습니다. 지난 4개월 동안 16분의 새가족이 등록을 하셨습니다. 할렐루야! 그외 등록을 생각중이신 분들이 또한 여러분 있는 것으로 알고 있는데, 하나님께서 보내 주신 여러분을 진심으로 환영합니다.

새로 교회를 찾아 정하는 일은 쉽지 않은 일이죠. 이사를 왔을 경우 적응해야 하는 새 환경의 여러가지 조건들을 함께 생각해야 하고, 자녀들이 있을 경우 그들의 필요를 또한 고려해야 하고, 출석하던 교회를 떠나 새로운 교회를 찾게 되었을 경우는 하나님의 뜻을 헤아려야 하는 어려운 분별의 시간을 거쳐야 하는 가볍지 않은 여정이요, 쉽지 않은 결정입니다.

그렇게 어려운 과정과 시간을 통해 저희 한미교회의 한 믿음의 식구가 되신 새가족 여러분들을 “격하게” 환영합니다. 잘 오셨습니다! 지난 44년간 이 교회를 통해 마르지 않고 부어 주신 하나님의 크신 은혜로 여러분의 삶 또한 넉넉히, 부족함 없이 하나님께서 채워 주실 줄 믿습니다! 아멘!

하나님께서 참 귀한 분들을 보내 주셨습니다. 새가족으로 등록하자 마자 속회 친교 봉사를 기쁨으로 맡아 주신 분도 있고, 성가대원으로 일찍부터 섬겨 주시는 새가족도 계십니다. 지난 부활주일 예배 찬양을 위해 딸과 아빠가 함께 열정적으로 워십댄스를 해 주신 교우 가족은 오시자 마자 교육부 일에 열심으로 참여해 주고 계십니다. 말씀을 나누다 보니 전문 사진작가로 오랫동안 활동하신 새가족도 계시고, 예배 반주를 오래 하셨던 분도 계십니다. 다시 고향 같은 콜로라도로 돌아 오신 분, 새로운 삶의 터전을 찾아 오신 분, 새로운 신앙 생활을 향한 다짐 가운데 오신 분등 ... 하나님께서 이끄심 가운데 새로 한미의 가족의 되신 여러분을 다시 한번 따듯한 마음으로 환영합니다.   

정현종 시인의 “방문객”이라는 시가 있습니다.

사람이 온다는 건 / 실은 어마어마한 일이다 / 그는 / 그의 과거와 현재와 / 그의 미래와 함께 오기 때문이다 / 한 사람의 일생이 오기 때문이다 / 부서지기 쉬운 / 그래서 부서지기도 했을 / 마음이 오는 것이다-그 갈피를 / 아마 바람은 더듬어볼 수 있을 / 마음, / 내 마음이 그런 바람을 흉내낸다면 / 필경 환대가 될 것이다.

새가족이 온다는 것은 정말 “어마어마한 일”인 것 같습니다. 무엇보다도 그 분들의 삶의 여정 가운데 이미 함께 하셨던 하나님의 은혜가 우리에게 더해지는 놀라운 일이요, 그 분들을 통해서 이루실 아름다운 일을 통해 우리의 미래가 바뀌어질 어마어마한 일인 것입니다. 또한 그분들의 상처와 아픔을 함께 보듬어 안게 될 소중한 일이기도 합니다. 이런 모든 것을 헤아리고 챙겨가며 새로 한미 가족이 된 여러분을 기쁨으로, 감사함으로, 그리고 기대함으로 따듯하게 맞아 주시기를 바랍니다.

다시 한번 새가족 여러분을 환영합니다. 참 잘 오셨습니다!

Today we will be holding a Newcomers Welcome Reception. Over the past four months, 16 new families and individuals have become new members of our church. Hallelujah! We also understand that there are several more who are prayerfully considering joining us, and we warmly welcome each of you whom God has sent.

Choosing and settling into a new church is never an easy decision. For those who have recently moved, there are many factors in a new environment to consider. For those with children, their needs must also be taken into account. And for those who have left a previous church home, there is often a difficult process of discerning God’s will. It is not a journey to be taken lightly.

That is why we extend a heartfelt and enthusiastic welcome to all of you who have become part of our KAMC family! You have come to the right place! We believe that through the abundant and unceasing grace God has poured out upon this church over the past 44 years, He will also richly provide for your spiritual journey - filling you with more than enough. Amen!

God has truly sent us wonderful people. Some of our new members have already begun serving with joy in small group fellowship, choir and other ministries. One family even participated passionately in worship dance together - father and daughter - for our Easter service, and they are already actively involved in the education ministry. I have also discovered that there are, among our newcomers, a professional photographer as well as an experienced piano accompanist. Some have returned to Colorado after living away for some years, others have come for the first time in search of a new home. Still others have come with a renewed commitment to their faith journey. Once again, we warmly welcome all of you whom God has led to become part of our KAMC family.

There is a poem by the Korean poet Jeong Hyeon-jong titled “Visitor.”

The coming of a person / is truly an immense event.

For he comes / with his past and his present / and even his future.

An entire lifetime comes.

A fragile heart comes - a heart that may have been broken.

Perhaps the wind can gently touch / the folds of that heart.

If my heart could imitate such a wind / that would surely be true hospitality.

The coming of a new person is truly “an immense event.” Above all, it is a great moment in which the grace of God—already present in their life journey—is added to us. It is also an extraordinary moment because through them, God will do beautiful things that may change our future. At the same time, it is a wonderful opportunity for us to embrace and care for their pain and wounds from the past.

With all these things in mind, let us whole-heartedly receive our new family members—with joy, thanksgiving and great anticipation. Once again, welcome and we are truly glad you are here!
