3월 마지막 주일입니다. 내일부터는 사순절 마지막 주간인 고난 주간이 시작됩니다. 지난 5주간 천로역정을 함께 읽어 가면서 삶과 믿음의 여정을 돌아보며 조금이나마 변화되는 삶이 되고자 무던히 애썼던 것 같습니다.

40일을 작정하고 거의 하루도 빠짐없이 새벽 제단을 지켜온 분들이 30명이 됩니다. 그러한 마음으로 새벽을 깨운 이들이 지금까지 총 (연인원) 1439명이 되니 감사할 뿐입니다. 특별히 EM 에서도 여러분이 참석해 주고 계십니다. 그분들의 신실함에 머리가 숙여질 뿐입니다.

4천번제도 4주째 합계가 3,968번제가 되어서 사순절이 끝날 때는 4천번제를 훌쩍 뛰어 넘을 것 같습니다. 지금까지 100번제 이상을 드린 분이 8명, 그 외 80번제 이상을 드린 12명등 총 60명이 참여하고 있습니다. 4천번제 캠페인을 통해서 많은 분들이 은혜의 자리로 조금 더 가까이 나아가고자 애쓰시는 모습이 보여 감사한 마음이 많습니다. 세상 뉴스보다 하나님의 말씀에 조금 더 귀 기울이고자 노력하신 분, 말 안 듣는 자녀에게 하루에 한번씩 “사랑한다” 말해 주는 일을 시작한 분, 잘 안 들리는 귀이지만 매일 15분씩 찬양으로 마음을 채우는 분, 시편 127편의 말씀 같이 매일 30분 낮잠의 영성을 키워 가는 분, 매일 아침 거울을 보며 자신에게 보내는 응원으로 하루를 시작하는 분, 발 뒤꿈치 드는 운동부터 몸을 세우는 일을 다시 시작하신 분등 ... 하나 하나 꾹꾹 눌러 별을 붙여가며 노력하는 많은 분들을 위해서 이번에 목회실에서 새로 “참 잘했어요!” 도장을 구입했습니다. 응원해 드리고 싶은 마음에 여러분이 제출해 주신 카드에 도장을 꾹꾹 눌러 찍어 드리며, 사순절에 시작한 노력의 열매들이 아름답게 맺혀지기를 기도하고 있습니다.

사순절 기간 동안 또 하나의 큰 은혜는 수요일마다 드리는 헌신예배입니다. 임원 헌신예배로 시작해서 한나, 루디아, 에스더, 그리고 마르다 여선교회 헌신예배를 드렸고, 마지막 주간에는 남선교회 헌신예배로 드려지게 됩니다. 정성으로 헌신예배를 준비해 주신 모습에 감동받았고, 개인적으로는 평소에 들을 수 없었던 지역 목사님들의 은혜로운 말씀을 들을 수 있어서 감사했습니다.

이제 40일 사순절이 일주일이 남았습니다! 아직 사순절 여정에 참여하지 못하셨던 분들도 마지막 남은 고난 주간을 통해서 믿음의 행보를 조금 더 넓게, 그리고 조금 더 깊은 은혜의 자리로 나아가 보길 권해 드립니다.

고난주간 금요일인 4월 3일에는 성금요일 예배로 드려집니다. 저녁 7시에 시작하는 예배를 통해서 예수님의 고난을 다시한번 생각해 보는 은혜의 시간이 되기를 바랍니다. 금년에는 전통적인 7언 묵상의 예배가 아닌 찬양 예배 형식으로 드려지겠습니다.

부활주일 새벽에는 스프링스지역 연합 새벽 기도회가 아침 6시에 한인 침례교회에서 있습니다. 이어서 11시에 저희 교회 전교인 합동 부활절 예배가 있습니다. 어린이, 중고등부, 청년부, 찬양팀이 함께 이끄는 신나는 찬양과 함께 성가대와 글로리가 준비한 특송등으로 풍성한 부활주일 예배를 준비하고 있습니다. 이와 함께 여선교회에서 정성으로 준비한 만찬도 있게 됩니다. 기쁘고 복된 부활주일을 바라보며 여러분을 응원합니다. 아멘!

This is the last Sunday of March. Beginning tomorrow, we enter Holy Week, the final week of Lent. Over the past five weeks, as we have journeyed together through The Pilgrim’s Progress, we have reflected on our walk of life and faith, striving—however imperfectly—to live lives that are being renewed and transformed.

Thirty individuals have committed to the full 40 days, faithfully keeping the early morning prayer altar with remarkable consistency. In total, 1,439 cumulative participants have risen early to pray, and for this we give heartfelt thanks. We are especially grateful for those from our EM who have joined in this journey as well. Their faithfulness is truly humbling.

The “4,000 Offerings of Life” campaign has now reached 3,968 offerings by the fourth week, and it seems certain that we will surpass 4,000 before Lent concludes. Eight individuals have already offered more than 100 acts, and twelve others more than 80, with a total of 60 participants thus far. Through this campaign, many are intentionally drawing nearer to God’s grace, and that is a great joy and encouragement to us all.

Each offering tells a beautiful story. Some have chosen to listen more attentively to God’s Word than to the news of the world. Others have begun saying “I love you” to their children each day. Some, despite hearing difficulties, fill their hearts with 15 minutes of praise daily. Others are embracing the spirituality of rest—like Psalm 127—by setting aside time for daily 30-minute nap. Some begin their mornings with words of encouragement spoken to themselves before the mirror, while others are caring for their bodies again, starting with small exercises like lifting their heels.

Seeing so many faithfully marking each step of their journey, the pastoral office recently prepared a small Korean “Good Job!” stamp to share our encouragement. With joy, we have been stamping the cards you submitted, praying that the seeds planted during this Lenten season will bear lasting and beautiful fruit.

Another great blessing during this season has been our Wednesday Dedication Services. Beginning with the Church Council, followed by Hannah, Lydia, Esther, and Martha Women’s Mission Groups, and concluding this coming week with the Men’s Mission Group, each service has been offered with sincere devotion. I have been deeply moved by the preparation and heart behind each gathering, and personally grateful for the opportunity to hear grace-filled messages from local pastors I do not often have the chance to hear.

Now, only one week remains in this 40-day Lenten journey. For those who have not yet fully engaged, I warmly invite you to step in during this final Holy Week—take one more step, go a little deeper, and draw nearer to the grace of God.

On Friday, April 3, we will gather for our Good Friday Service at 7:00 PM. I pray this will be a sacred time as we reflect once more on the suffering and love of our Lord. This year, the service will be offered in a praise and worship format rather than the traditional Seven Last Words meditation. On Easter Sunday at 11:00 AM, we will come together for our All-Church Easter Worship Service. It will be a joyful and vibrant celebration led by our children, youth, young adults, and praise team, along with special music from the choir. Following the service, a festive meal lovingly prepared by the Women’s Mission Group will be shared together.

As we look ahead to this joyful and blessed Easter, I offer you my prayers and encouragement for the remainder of our Lenten journey. Let us finish well—together, in grace. Amen.
