어느새 5월이 지나고 6월이 되었습니다. 지난 한 달 동안 우리 교회에는 참 신나고 좋은 일들이 많았습니다.
먼저 5월 첫째 주일에는 어린이주일 예배와 함께, 어린이 목회팀에서 처음으로 준비한 SEED 마켓이 열렸습니다. 이는 일정 기간 동안 어린이들이 주일예배 출석, 성경 암송, 주일학교 참여 등을 통해 ‘씨앗(Seed)’을 모으고, 그 씨앗으로 원하는 선물을 구입할 수 있도록 한 프로그램입니다.
‘SEED’는 우리 교회 어린이부 명칭이자 사역의 비전으로, 예수님의 사랑이 어린이들의 삶 속에 소중히 심겨 싹이 트고 자라기를 바라는 마음이 담겨 있습니다. 그 이름처럼, 이번 마켓에 참여한 아이들이 지난 4개월간 정성껏 모은 씨앗을 통해 풍성한 열매를 맺는 믿음의 어린이로 자라나기를 소망하며 함께 기도했습니다.
다음 SEED 마켓은 여름방학 후, 8월에 열릴 예정이라고 하는데 벌써부터 어떤 선물들이 준비될지 기대가 됩니다. 첫 SEED 마켓을 위해 수고해주신 이혜영 사모님, 구룽 목사님, 그리고 어린이 목회팀 모든 분들께 깊이 감사드립니다.
5월 둘째 주일은 어머니 주일이었습니다. 남선교회에서 특별히 준비해주신 베이컨 치즈버거 덕분에 모두가 즐거운 시간을 가졌습니다. 작년의 짜장밥 서프라이즈에 이어, 올해는 고급 햄버거에 갓 튀긴 감자튀김까지 더해져 더블 서프라이즈가 되었습니다. 수고해주신 김찬균 남선교회 회장님과 모든 분들께 다시 한번 감사드리며, 내년에는 또 어떤 깜짝 감동을 주실지 벌써부터 기대가 됩니다.
지난 한달 여선교회도 많이 바뻤습니다. 먼저 5월 둘째주간에 있었던 콜로라도 스프링스 지역 노인회 월례회를 우리 교회에서 치르느라 수고가 많으셨습니다. 80여명 참석한 모임의 점심식사를 준비하느라 남정희 총여선교회 회장님을 비롯한 여러분이 수고해 주셨습니다. 그리고 이어서 그 다음 주에 오랫만에 여선교회 온천 여행이 있었는데, 온천도 좋았지만, 푸짐한 음식으로 몸과 마음이 참으로 즐거웠던 시간이었습니다. 가면서 먹으라고 싸 주신 김밥으로부터 시작해서 불고기, 삼겹살, 오징어, 옥수수, 누룽밥에 더해서, 쉴 사이 없이 나오는 과자, 수박, 딸기, 블루베리, 빵, 치즈, 크래커, 땅콩 등등 ... 준비해 주신 분들의 넘치는 사랑으로 몸과 마음이 푹 쉬고 올 수 있어서 감사했습니다.
메모리얼데이를 맞아 점심 친교가 없었던 지난 주일에는 청년부가 함께 덴버에 올라가 좋은 시간을 가졌다고 합니다. 오늘 수요일에는 중고등부에서 ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) Outing을 간다고 하고요. 몇 주전에 모였던 제2남선교회(?!) 에서는 볼링 대회를 열까 생각중이라고도 하네요. 3주 후에는 여름성경학교로 교회가 바뻐지겠죠?
좋은 일로 바쁜 5월과 6월! 시간이 조금 천천히 갔으면 좋겠네요!

Before we knew it, May has passed and June has begun. Over the past month, our church has been filled with some exciting events.
To begin with, on the first Sunday of May, we celebrated Children's Sunday and held our very first SEED Market, organized by the Children’s Ministry Team. This program allowed children to collect “seeds” over a certain period through Sunday worship attendance, Scripture memorization, and participation in Sunday School, and then use those seeds to purchase gifts of their choice.
SEED is not only the name of our children’s ministry but also its vision—it reflects our prayer that the love of Jesus would be deeply planted in the lives of our children, sprouting and growing in faith. True to its name, we prayed that the seeds our children had diligently gathered over the past four months would bear abundant fruit in their lives as faithful disciples of Christ.
The next SEED Market is scheduled for August, after summer break. We are already looking forward to seeing what exciting gifts will be prepared next. Deepest thanks to Ms. Hye-Young Lee, Pastor Gurung, and the entire Children’s Ministry Team for all their efforts in making the first SEED Market such a success.
The second Sunday of May was Mother’s Day, and thanks to a special treat prepared by the Men’s Ministry—a gourmet bacon cheeseburger lunch—everyone had a truly delightful time. Following last year’s surprise with jjajang rice, this year’s gourmet burger, complete with freshly fried French fries, became a double surprise! Many thanks again to Men’s Ministry President Chan Kyun Kim and all who helped. We’re already excited to see what surprise they’ll bring next year!
The Women’s Ministry was also quite busy last month. In the second week of May, they hosted the monthly senior gathering for the Colorado Springs area at our church. Over 80 people attended, and a delicious lunch was lovingly prepared under the leadership of Women’s Ministry President Jung-Hee Nam and many volunteers. The following week, they enjoyed a long-awaited hot spring retreat. The hot spring itself was wonderful, but even more memorable was the abundance of food that brought joy and comfort to everyone’s hearts and bodies. Starting with homemade kimbap for the road, the feast included bulgogi, pork belly, squid, corn, scorched rice, and a never-ending stream of cookies, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, bread, cheese, crackers, peanuts, and more! We are deeply grateful for the overflowing love poured into every preparation.
Last Sunday, when we didn’t have fellowship lunch due to Memorial Day, the Young Adults had a great outing together in Denver. And this coming Wednesday, the Youth Group is off on an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) outing. Meanwhile, the “Second Men’s Ministry” (?!), which met a few weeks ago, is reportedly considering organizing a bowling tournament. In just three weeks, our church will be bustling with Vacation Bible School.
A busy May and June, filled with good things … I am wishing if time could slow down just a little.
